Overview:
The Hammerstein Center, a museum-in-the-making is seeking a Director of Philanthropy contractor with an entrepreneurial mindset and history, to help build the systems, processes and partnerships that will financially support the organization’s launch and strategic growth.
The Director of Philanthropy will report to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors, and will lead the planning and execution of a comprehensive private and public sector development program. The Director of Philanthropy will join the Hammerstein Center at a critical period, and lead the effort to secure the partnerships and resources necessary to meet targeted, strategic dates and initiatives to attract additional funding.
The Organization:
OHMTEC is a recognized 501(c)3 with the mission to honor Oscar Hammerstein II’s work as a librettist and lyricist, and his legacy of mentorship and personal values. The vision is to acquire, restore, and preserve Mr. Hammerstein’s home and barn at Highland Farm in Doylestown, PA, and create a museum on this historic site. Our long-term vision is to build a regional theater in Doylestown, to present both Hammerstein and non-themed shows, and house a robust theater education program for all ages.
Job Summary:
The Hammerstein Center is seeking a seasoned development leader who can meet the challenges of a tight fundraising deadline.
The Director of Philanthropy Will:
-Design, plan and implement all activities to build a $1.5M+ annual giving program comprised of individual, corporate, foundation, government, event, membership-based, and digital fundraising streams.
-Identify and cultivate prospects with the immediate goal to secure a dozen
prospects capable of making 4-6 figure gifts in the initial phase of the project.
-Oversee the research, writing and report requirements for all grants and proposals.
-Utilize members of the volunteer Friends committee, when appropriate.
-Provide support for museum or off-site events
Compensation and Benefits:
The 1099 contractor budget for this role is competitive and commensurate with experience. The nature of this role involves travel throughout the region, with work/life flexibility, including working remotely.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree required. Advanced degree in marketing, finance, or management is
preferred.
• Minimum of 4 plus years’ experience in fund raising in the nonprofit sector with a
proven track record of closing 4-6 figure gifts, communications, and event planning.
• Donor and CRM software expertise such as WealthEngine and Salesforce
